Successful book launchWhy are we suffering from stress and long hours working when digital technology was supposed to bring us a life of leisure? This was the question being answered by a line-up of speakers at Innovation Birmingham last week.

The occasion was the launch of the new book “Conquering Digital Overload”. Five of the contributors to the book presented their views on the subject and a panel answered questions from the audience. The debate continued over refreshments with the audience getting an opportunity to meet the authors in person.

Cliff Dennett introduced the subject and pointed out how technology is causing stress. However, digital overload cannot be solved just by turning off the email servers. It has to be addressed by leaders. Matthias Moelleney, spoke about the need for leaders to go beyond conventional management practices to give people responsibility.
Ben Emmens covered the subject of organisational culture and Susan Stucky spoke about the change of mindset needed by leaders in the digital age. Peter Thomson then summarised the key messages from the book, pointing out that organisations will lose their best employees if they don’t make changes soon.

The book is available in Kindle and Hardback format from Amazon.
