Michael is an experienced talent/learning professional focused on driving change and transformation. As an international leader Michael has developed broad experience in organisational development as well as driving leadership and building effective talent management strategies and approaches. One of his key interests is organisational and personal learning and how this can support strategic change agendas in organisations, teams, and individuals. Michael has worked in a variety of sectors and roles with different companies including Motorola, Interbrew (now Anheuser Beusch Inbev), VT Group and most recently State Street bank and has operated in telecoms, services, brewing, engineering, hi tech and finance sectors. Michael was formerly Programme Director for Strategy, General Management, and HR programmes in Management Centre Europe based in Brussels and was Global Vice President Organisation and Development and Learning in Interbrew based in Leuven Belgium. He was also previously an HR Director in the Caribbean region and lived with his family in Kingston, Jamaica.
Michael is particularly interested in the radical changes in the VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous) world we live in and working with people and organisations to cope and and succeed with their challenges and opportunities. In 2016 Michael established his own consultancy after extensive corporate experience and is currently working with a number of different clients on coaching, development and change assignments. While leading the implementation of a coaching culture at a services company Michael completed a certificate in coaching with the Henley Management College in 2007. Michael has a BSc degree in Political Science from Bristol University and an MSc in Urban Planning from Oxford Brooke’s University and recently completed a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree at Portsmouth University (in 2014) that focused on implementing a talent and coaching strategy in a global services organisation. He is a Chartered Companion with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and was formerly an honorary Vice President Learning and Development for the CIPD. Michael is a strong advocate of the academic and business world working closely together and was a member of the Portsmouth University Business School board and also a Governor Portsmouth University for 4 years.
